  1. Background noise reduction

Mic needs serious background noise reduction feature. I don't know how it works but I've seen it advertised on other mics. I've got my modmic attached to headphones with open mesh and my friends in skype hear everything that comes through them.

  2. Greater portability for road-warriors.

Hi. Modmic is awesome. I've been telling all my colleagues: consultants who spend 40+ weeks a year on the road, and who constantly take conference calls in airports, taxis, cafes, etc. We're all hooked on Bose and similar noise-cancelling headphones. So, Modmic is the perfect way to keep our Bose QC 15/25 and add similar quality to the audio input.

(We've all tried the $400-$500 bluetooth headphones, but the microphones are terrible. Not acceptable for work calls, especially not in a public space.)

But while some people are instantly sold on my modmic rig, others look at the cables and…

  3. Long Y cable with mute switch and volume wheel

Long Y cable with mute switch and volume wheel.

That way you could add modmic with a single cable for headsets with removable cables.

Think of it like a V Moda Boompro with a male plug for headset and a female one for the modmic instead of having the mic integrated into it.

  4. Stronger adhesive. and more

Stronger adhesive pads, and something to take the weight off the cable on the back of the mic.

  6. XLR

Soooooooo... how about that XLR feature that you said we should be looking out for (nearly a year ago).... ModMic does NOT work for us prosumer casters who use high end audio interfaces. 3.5mm does not cut it!

  7. Higher quality mic capsule (than MM 5.0)

Make the capsule that hold the microphones out of something more sturdy (than in the modmic 5.0), either a more rigid plastic with better construction or even metal.

I don't know if I have a bad unit but I feel like I'm unable to bend the mic to point in the right direction ( without it falling apart and also the mic capsule wobbles multiple degrees. And yes I have attempted to tighten the screw on the mic capsule

  8. Mic monitoring

Zero latency mic monitoring. The only way I can think of this is to have the headphones plug into the microphone, then plug into the computer.

    Headphones>--_____ --hjack
    Microphone >-- --mjack

I'm on mobile so I don't know if this will look right or if you will understand it. Also there is def room for improvement as I don't think this would work with an audio interface still, but would be better than nothing.

  9. Wire safety clip similar to the v3 design.

In the image below I have outlined the safety clip that is used on the v3 version of the modmic but it no longer exists on the v4 anymore.

In my opinion I still prefer the v3 instead of the v4 because I use a office chair which makes it very easy to run over the wire. This helps from damaging the cable.

  12. push to talk

    push to talk button instead of the slide. I use it with a boom operators on movie sets and just need to squeeze the trigger to talk. Most of the time they don't need to talk;

  13. I use the Modmic for 8 hours a day and...

... it's a great product overall. Mic needs to be more sensitive though. I'm using Bose QuietComfort headphones and I found that the boom wasn't long enough, people were having trouble hearing me. I had to straighten out the boom at the curve at the back so I could extend it. Sometimes I have to hold it right in front of my mouth, almost touching it, to get the level I need. If you could increase mic sensitivity so it doesn't have to be so close to my mouth, the modmic would be just about perfect.

  16. Repairability

More customizability / repairparts. If something broke I'd like to just Exchange that one part. Buying a new modmic every 2-3 years becomes a Little expansive. People get connected to there modmic, they dont want it to die ^^ If it's not robust enough then at least i Need a way how to get it back to life without throwing it into the trash and having to buy a new one.

  17. Upgrade or switch to a softer more flexible cord

Love the modmic 4 that I have. Only thing I would change is the flexibility of the cord. It would nice to have a cord with a much softer, less brittle feeling rubber. For example like the cabling on my AKG K612 Pro headphones. This would make the mic cord hang much straighter and lie flatter on the desk when in use. It would also allow it to more easily follow the contour of the headphone cord when attached with the modmic clips.
